The Bold & Beautiful Weddings Of 2020
I love taking a moment to pause and round up my weddings around this time each year. It may come as no surprise that it’s been a pretty tumultuous 9 months for a London wedding photographer! I’m writing this as the mutated virus tears through tier 4 London. Looking back, life seemed so much better even a month ago. Looking forward to 2021, I’m filled with optimism in the knowledge that science is about to strike back!
As the pandemic hit, many couples made heart wrenching decisions to move their plans until later in the summer, later in the autumn, later in the winter or even (shock!) into 2021! As uncertainty became more uncertain, couples were forced to move their big days again and sometimes even again. I have to say I’m profoundly grateful to my 2020 couples for being so kind and thoughtful to me during this challenging year while they were watching their own dreams shattered. At the time of writing, I’m proud to have been able to migrate all weddings without incurring any additional costs for my couples. I can’t wait to see you at your weddings in the coming months – it’s going to be joyous to be back in crowds again!
Five couples were determined that 2020 was going to be their year. Beating Coronavirus to it, Sara and Ker kicked things off at Pennyhill Park Hotel. Restrictions followed lockdown with weddings limited to 15 guests, 30 guests then 15 guest again, all with next to no notice. Heroic Event Organisers hit the ground running with Covid safe measures and comprehensive support for their clients. After months of being flat bound, it was glorious to be at The Hurlingham Club photographing on a perfect summers day. The latter part of the year saw two couples who had begun with guest lists of 150+ limited to 15. What was important was to be married.
To sum up 2020, a year that will go down in infamy – It was the worst of times, it was the best of times.
